The agreement between you and Foodminder — and some important guidance on expiry dates and health ratings.
These terms govern your use of the Foodminder app and website ("Foodminder", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Foodminder, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Foodminder helps you keep a living inventory of your food, reminds you before it expires, and turns what's about to go off into recipe ideas. It is currently provided free of charge. We may add, change or remove features over time.
Please read this. The expiry dates Foodminder shows are estimates to help you reduce waste — they are not a guarantee that food is safe to eat. Always use your own judgement, follow the use-by and best-before dates printed on the actual packaging, and check food (look, smell, storage) before consuming it. Never rely on Foodminder alone to decide whether food is safe. Foodminder is a planning tool, not a food-safety authority.
Health ratings, nutrition information and product details are derived from third-party databases and automated matching. They are general information only, not medical, nutritional or dietary advice, and may be inaccurate, incomplete or mis-matched to your exact product. Do not rely on them for medical or dietary decisions; speak to a qualified professional for those. Always check the actual product packaging.
You agree not to misuse Foodminder — including attempting to disrupt or reverse-engineer it, access other users' data, upload unlawful or harmful content, or use it in breach of any law. We may suspend accounts that do.
Your kitchen data is yours. You grant us the licence needed to store and process it so we can provide the service (including sending relevant parts to the providers described in our Privacy Policy). You can delete your data at any time — see the data-deletion page.
Foodminder, its name, logo, design and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property law. These terms do not grant you any rights in them beyond using the app as intended.
We aim to keep Foodminder available and reliable, but it is provided "as is" and we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may update these terms from time to time; when we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Foodminder after a change means you accept the updated terms.
You can stop using Foodminder and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or to protect the service or other users.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Foodminder is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on estimated expiry dates, health ratings or third-party product data — including food that spoils or any illness. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including your statutory consumer rights.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
